Subject: Insulation questions

Hello Vac-ers

 I ' m replacing the insulation in a few panels , had a few questions -

does anyone know where to get that slightly compressed fiberglass insulation
like they put around washer dryers ? I thought it might be a little easier
to put in and hold together better / longer . Not as stiff as f/g ceiling
tiles , but not as loose as regular r-19

I was thinking of using spray trim adhesive to hold it up while installing
inside panels , is that aluminium compatible?

What about using rocker panel undercoat ( the clear gummy kind ) on back
side of exterior seams to waterproof ?

and would self etching primer be good to arrest slightly corroded
aluminium from mouse damage area maybe epoxy sealer over ? fortunatly they
didnt seem to go far , it wasnt a stinker before I found the mouse house ,
but I`m going to reinsulate anyway , and hopefully gain some r-values too.

So , any ideas on the subject ? alternative products ? anyone adding that
mylar bubblewrap stuff in there ?

Chris - new trailer in the what have I gotten into stage

Could someone enlighten me about the different sizes of clecos and other clamps I
would need to do interior panels , some exterior panels eventually ,and bellypan
work ? I would like to get the basic tools needed , they seem to be plentifull on
ebay ,but I`m not sure of sizes #30 .40 etc ,dont want to buy what I`ll never use
. .One other thing ,can I use regular pop rivetgun for olympic or cherry rivets ,
and wheres the best place to buy a shaver for them
Thanks
Chris

GOOD ANSWER! I hear they have no bathrooms either...just guest rooms...now,
if I could have $150,000 to spend on several ranch buildings I'd be RICH:)

It looks nice but the kitchen is too small. If the plan is to stay in full
service RV Parks and eat out then this is fine. If you plan to camp in
Colorado with your family the design is a total loss.

What you came across is what every Airstream affectioniado dreams of. Most
likely it was a late '40's WeeWind or Trailwind.

As for value, you probably guessed it went a little on the low side. You
can determine it's value based upon the criteria outlined on this webpage I
put together to answer such questions.

The high density fiberglass bats have been used for car underhood
insulation and in speaker boxes for acoustical damping. Should still be
available from J.C. Whitney and from vendors in speaker box
construction.

A friendly reminder to all, taken from the guidelines webpage.
Monitor Scott.

Do talk about Airstreams and Airstreaming with particular emphasis on
vintage Airstreams:

This is what everybody is here for - the group is orientated around using,
owning, and admiring Airstreams with the particular interest of restoration
of the vintage Airstream travel trailer. The group is monitored, but you are
free to post anything you like to the list. However, because of this open
policy, it is extremely important that you do not stray too far from the
subject of Airstream Restoration. Model identification, tow vehicles, tow
hitches, sources for parts, chemicals to clean your trailer with, tire
sizes, in fact anything that is directly relevant to vintage Airstreams is
okay, but allowing yourself to spin off on an unrelated tangent isn't. It is
a matter of etiquette that the subject matter be kept under control.

AFAIK- you don't "need" any insurance- the "biggy"- liability- is covered
by the tow vehicle- but in this case if anything happens to the trailer
you're on your own (as far as repairs/replacement).
