Jeremy, I fish from a canoe several times a month. I use the Wenonah Fisherman 14'. It is 39" max width, which makes it very stable. It is the Royalex model and weights 57 pounds. Cost is on the high end, but has served me well. I mainly use it in the rivers and streams of the Texas Hill Country, which can be rough on a boat.

Just a quick question, how many of you fish from a canoe? I have been considering purchasing a canoe for some local lake fishing. Is there any better canoes for the fishing or will any old one work just fine? I had considered a pontoon boat, however I like to take a friend or two when I go, and the two man pontoons are out of my price range. I like the idea of a canoe for its portability, I can throw it on top of my explorer with little preparation. Thanks in advance, Jeremy
