I do not think it is possible to keep such revolutionary and important technology under wraps indefinitely. Sooner or later, many people will come to believe that Rossi's reactors are real, and there will be an explosion of interest.
Rossi's technical secrets are, as you say, "closely held by a very few people," but that situation cannot last. His reactors will be reverse engineered. Others have produced heat from Pd-D, and they are starting to succeed at producing heat from Ni-H. General knowledge of cold fusion is not "closely held." It is widely dispersed. As I said, people have downloaded 2.6 million papers from LENR-CANR.org. That information will not go back into Pandora's box. It has been successfully suppressed in the U.S. but not so much in Italy or Japan and probably not at all in China. Even in the U.S., people are now getting funded for cold fusion experiments. We have not seen this level of funding since 1989.
