*smile* Because if Chad doesn't check in, say hi, tell us how he's
doing and update us on the wife and the baby, someone will start asking
about him and then we'll have a whole plethora of "where's Chad?"
messages. So, in reality, Chad is really benefitting the Internet by
*preventing* the misuse of bandwidth.

Well, after a long while, one learns that the price of admission here is
being one of the family. Just as you can't get into my grandmother's
kitchen for a piece of her legendary rhubarb pie without being engaged
in a 45 minute rant on how the world has gone to hell in a handbasket,
with the access to the pundits comes access to their interactions,
rantings, ravings, triumphs and stumbles. (Not that everyone sends this
stuff . . . but if you organize your in box (or perhaps trash) by name
of sender, it becomes obvious quickly where the driving forces for the
list lie, and with that well-earned badge comes a little leeway, I
guess).
Makes things a lot more interesting than the average "tech support"
mailing list . . . many of which have the personal appeal of man pages.
Maybe we should change the web page to call ourselves a support group
instead of a mailing list *grin*
Besides, ever since we started complaining and whining to each other,
the complaints to management from co-workers about how we always sat in
the dark and talked to ourselves have gone way down . . . now we can
whine and complain and look busy doing it ;)
Brett
(who has been here since about day 5, hasn't regretted a minute of it,
and is headed back to putting his bandwidth conservation efforts for the
day toward writing his representatives in congress and stopping the
legitimization of *unwanted* email . . .)
