True, it's not a web-based Q, but on the other hand...most of my hand,
shoulder, and back problems have been from sitting at a computer. Before I
got involved with computers, I never had problems with any of those three,
even with playing football/tennis and constantly crocheting. All of the
people I know of with ongoing arm and back problems are in the computer
industry -- programmers or tech writers for the most part. One good friend
has a severe lower-back (disc) problem that started when her job duties
changed to require lots of computer hours. So, even if it doesn't help us
make good web sites, we all need to stay aware of the problems, and share
with one another. If it turns out Chad's problem is from a change to his
computer setup or from sitting in badly designed chairs for long hours,
then we all need him to share that information with us -- many of us aren't
in big companies where there's someone responsible for making sure we're
doing the right thing ergonomically, so we count on our fellow web friends
to point out potential problems.
And besides that...we just plain care. Like Mike Stone says, this is our
corner bar, where we all share a virtual beer, complain about clients, ask
for help with JavaScript, and (occassionally) bitch about some ache or pain
or even a problem person in our life. I dunno about the rest of you, but I
don't have a big dividing line between personal stuff and work stuff
anymore...it's all the same Life Stuff so I don't tend to separate out the
fact that my mouse shoulder is acting up today (heavy Photoshop work
yesterday) from the fact that I'm refinancing my house. All is just part of
life.

Well, Brandon, always good to hear from a lurker, no matter what the reason
behind the posting!
