"President Obama said this week he is worried that the country is losing its
love of learning. You may have heard him say this. He said we need to show as
much attention to science award winners as we do basketball players. Now,
didn't he just install a basketball court in the White House? I guess the West
Wing Science Lab is next on the list."

Republicans in the Wilderness: Is the Party Over?
http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1896588,00.html
. . Representative Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, a conservative who keeps
a bust of Reagan on his desk, surprised me by declaring that the Reagan era is
over. "Marginal tax rates are the lowest they've been in generations, and all
we can talk about is tax cuts," he said. "The people's desires have changed,
but we're still stuck in our old issue set." ...

How To Revitalize The GOP
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,518921,00.html
GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: And now the Republicans scramble. Some
Republican big names are scrambling to revive their party. On Saturday,
Congressman Eric Cantor and former governors Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney held a
town hall-style meeting at a strip mall pizzeria in Virginia, the first of a
series of events that are -- they're calling the National Council for a New
America. ... Now, Rush Limbaugh was not impressed by the town hall meeting.
RADIO TALK SHOW HOST RUSH LIMBAUGH: If Jeb wants to run around and say that
they've got something and we don't have anything -- I mean, the Democrats got
something. We have to admit it. If we don't have something, it's the fault of
the people that Jeb is meeting with in Arlington, Virginia, not conservatives
and not conservatism and not the grass roots! ...
Something else you have to understand. These people hate Palin, too. They
despise Sarah Palin. They fear Sarah Palin. They don't like her, either. She's
-- according to them, she's embarrassing. A lot of this is aimed at Sarah
Palin. When you -- when you -- when you strip all the talk that the Reagan era
is over and we got to stop all this nostalgia and stuff, clearly, in last
year's campaign, the most prominent, articulate voice for standard
run-of-the-mill good old-fashioned American conservatism was Sarah Palin.
Now, everybody on this "speak to America" tour has presidential perspirations
(SIC). Mitt Romney's out there. He wants to be president again. Jeb may some
day. Eric Cantor, some of the others, McCain -- I don't think he does, but you
never know. So this is -- this is -- this is an early campaign event, 2012
presidential campaign, primary campaign, with everybody there but Sarah Palin.

Palin Joins GOP Rebranding Effort, Limbaugh Says Leaders Fear Her
http://tinyurl.com/cgmky8
A few hours after Rush Limbaugh told listeners GOP leaders launching a
Republican re-branding effort hated and feared Sarah Palin, House Minority Whip
Eric Cantor announced that the Alaska governor had finally accepted an
invitation to join the group. ...
At the group's kickoff event -- a town hall-style gathering at an Arlington,
Virginia restaurant -- Cantor, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former
Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney urged the party to re-frame their message. Bush,
in particular, expressed admiration for President Obama's political skill, and
told the crowd not to get mired in "nostalgia" for past GOP dominance.
He mentioned no names, but Limbaugh interpreted that remark as a knock on Palin
and President Ronald Reagan. ...

Obama is doing."

"You know, Joe [Scarborough], really, this -- this is not a listening tour. ...

GOP Dumping Elephant as Party Symbol
http://tinyurl.com/cptoy4
GOP leaders have formed the Council for a New America to rebrand the party, and
reports say its first order of business is to find a replacement for the
elephant as the Republican symbol.
"McCain, Romney, Palin, Jeb Bush, they've all agreed the elephant has to go," a
Council member revealed. "It's ponderous, often intimidating, not found in
America, and just doesn't speak to young people and minorities. The Democrats'
donkey is lovable and huggable; you don't hug an elephant and live to tell
about it."
While the choice for a new symbol is still being debated, the source said a
clear frontrunner has emerged.
"It's the Mexican Chihuahua," he said. "Actually, a black Mexican Chihuahua."
"A barking rat?" I said. "They're nervous little monsters who hate strangers
and think peeing on the carpet is an expression of love."
"That's not the popular perception," he said. "Thanks to Madonna, Paris Hilton
and Taco Bell, Chihuahuas have become all the rage. More to the point,
Hispanics will be flocking to the Republican Party when our Mexican Chihuahua
symbol is unveiled."
The Council also believes the barking rat will garner a favorable response from
African-Americans.
"The Chihuahua comes in many colors," he said, "but we intentionally chose
black. We hope they get it."
The only Council member reportedly opposed to the Chihuahua is Alaska Governor
Sarah Palin.
Palin says she is holding out for the grizzly bear "because they're just a
bitch to kill."
=--= =--= =--= =--= =--= =--= =--=
"Eighteen-year-old unwed mother Bristol Palin will be a spokesperson for
abstinence. When asked if she'd be the spokesperson, she said, 'Sure; what is
abstinence, like a perfume or something?'"

"All you moderates out there, y'all come. I mean, that's the message. The
message of this party is this is a big table for everyone to have a seat I have
a place setting with your name on the front.
"Understand that when you come into someone's house, you're not looking to
change it. You come in because that's the place you want to be."
- Michael Steele, RNC Chairman
So, I guess what Steele is saying is that moderates are guests, not residents,
in the GOP tent, hmmmm? Residents usually have a say in their own house if it
is to be a home....

"And I know this; our party's politics is closer to America ideologically than
President Obama, but he's connected with young people. We lost ground with the
Hispanics, we got to repair the damage there."
- Sen. Lindsey Graham [R-NC]
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Chyeah, that's why President Obama's approval numbers are consistently 60-70%,
while less that 40% say they have a positive opinion of the Republican Party....
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/28/poll.democrats/
And yeah, Democrats in general aren't high on the list either, but at least
they're doing better than 50%.
