Hello Just Bill,
You may have misunderstood my message. I am aware
signing onto this that it was a forum(and all the
good/bad that goes with it). I also never stated that
I had high privacy expectations(or any at all for that
matter). While I do agree with your assertion that
there is no privacy on the web(Outside of not using
it. Sort of like abstinence is the only sure fire way
to avoid pregnancy and STD in the traditional sense),
I am also a firm believer in discretion(being the
better part of whatever). Safety and privacy were not
mentioned in the post together and are not mutually
exclusive. Taking your rational farther, in theory, no
where is safe(or private), nor would/should an
individual have the presumption to assume that places
like work, home, the gym or the local Zen temple would
be expected to have a reasonable decorum of safety(and
assume the low-risk aspect you spoke of and decide
whether it was acceptable or not), as opposed to
Chinatown, the Combat Zone, slum alley where one would
need to presuppose a level of awareness would be
prudent. I actively sought out this group. I did not
find it by trolling through search engines. I also
foster no delusions that I, or my posts, are at the
forefront of saving the universe, but if in fact they
were to help someone, so be it. My post should have
been one word-discretion. Being mugged as opposed to
actively seeking to be mugged(taping $20 bills to ones
forehead and wandering Central Park could do it) might
seem like a small difference to some, but at the very
least means $20 to me :)
