Thanks, but I really don't anticipate any misfortune. Even in the inclimate conditions of winter, we generally experience very few power outages and even when we DO get them, they are for a very short period of time, hardly long enough to allow my stuff to thaw. Or were you referring to something else entirely?

Buy pushing our bad karma off on the person who killed the animal for us, we are in fact incurring bad karma of our own. Mind you, this is just me playing devil's advocate. I have a freezer full of steak, chicken and fish.- V. ________________________________ From: Anthony Wu <wu...@yahoo. com.sg> To: zen_fo...@yahoogrou ps.com Sent: Sunday, December 21, 2008 2:22:38 AM Subject: Re: [Zen] Ducks Have Buddha Nature? I believe 'Buddha nature' is a mahayana Buddhism's creation. I have not found original Buddhism literature mentioning the term. Some go as far as insisting that even stone has Buddha nature. Let us limit ourselves to sentient beings only who have Buddha nature. That means all animals, including roaches and vermin. When a pond was filled with water to kill insects, the Buddha allowed it, because the purpose was to clean the place, not to kill. By the same token, if we eat meat bought from a supermarket, we create little bad karma, because we don't do the killing. So animals are not created to be food. Therefore, Jesus says, 'don't kill sacrifice animals. Use my blood, to donate to God.' That is the highest ideal.. It is best to be a vegetarian. If you cannot resist eating delicious meat, try not to cause to kill, to avoid creating bad karma. Good luck. --- On Sat, 20/12/08, Karin Machado <tortillera77@ yahoo.com> wrote: From: Karin Machado <tortillera77@ yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [Zen] Ducks Have Buddha Nature? Are plants and insects without Buddha Nature because they are at the bottom of the food chain?? ________________________________ Get your preferred Email name!
