Merle,
The Buddha and my Ch'an relatives in China said nothing about computing and
information-theory. They know what "Human" means. Stick with the old masters.
They were masters, Merle. There are modern masters, too, and they carry the
Human transmission from the old guys and gals in an unbroken chain, and you can
count on them, and need no computer to do the counting. Old Daido Loori was
one of them, but he's gone, now. Are you looking at some more of his videos
and texts, online? He was a friend. He would not mis-lead; you can trust him.
His teacher was Bill!'s teacher. And of course there are many others you may
find.
I hope you'll meet a teacher in person, and have a field-day. A field-day that
lasts for many years. My fingers are crossed for you about that, dear Cousin.
Reason makes us realize we need to practice, and to drop reason.
That's why we need a teacher. Reason can't drop itself, and is a virus. It's
the same with ego. Hence, a teacher is a necessity. Pick one, any one of your
choice.
But it can't (mustn't) be one in your Imagination: that's ego.
Go carefully,
--Joe
