Actually, he never saw it...just a passing guy I met at the club who complained gently about the fact that it was his birthday. To console him I bought him a drink, and went home and wrote the poem...never saw him again. Perhaps he died of perceived old age.

But i was quite thrilled with the way the mom-pop theme took off. I really loved it. The idea was sharing ur poetry on a common theme and not just publishing it.
 
Publishing, as a concept, is not just about eliminating anonymity from ur creativity but has a substantial commercial content too. And i daresay poetry as a commercial venture is not the best of profit making industry. Devoid of profit - publishing loses its meaning. Therefore, poetry is essentially a non-commercial creative venture - a bit like theatre or documentary film making - or perhaps like free porn sites all of us search for (just joking!).
 
All poets end up writing at least one birthday poem. Are any of us sharing it here in this group. Again the best of birthday poems has been penned by Dylan Thomas and it was Temp's poem and reference to the October weather which reminded me of this great oeuvre as it had a bit of that tone. Our AB Vajpayee is another for Birthday poems.
