Thanks Vivek.
"like Sophocles" could end up meaning that Sophocles indeed sold coke and chips. Besides being anachronistic, it would add a new twist to the idea of a Greek tragedy.
Comparing a a group with something singular is clumsy per se i guess but i cannot help it. Show me a way out. The poem below (thanks to ur very welcome suggestions) is redone. Comments??

I like this poem, it swings. I would make it "like Sophocles" to
better match up the plurality of poets and the singularity of
Sophocles. Shouldn't it be "Ads" (line 3, stanza 2) and "for Ads'
sake as well"?

"with commerce in their words" is a bit awkward, perhaps the thought
should be articulated a little more clearly. Are you saying that the
commerce is embedded in the very words themselves? That's cynical;
aren't the words embedded in the commerce?

Publishing is only about helping things come into view. The real
validation of a poem is only if people are moved enough to pass it on
to others or, further, to try and memorize it for themselves. The
lasting virtue of poetry today is that it doesn't make money. Being
at the margins of capitalism gives it a freedom that other forms don't
necessarily have.
