He. A problem of ioQuake3 is that *is* a replacement of Quake3, and don't want to make the game feel different or work different. Even target backward type compatibilities.
I think this is a flaw, but.. he!.. is a very sucesfull project. It shows is a flaw, because able things like this event, people taking is stuff, and moving to closed source land. Maybe not a bad thing at itself, but... he!. I am here just to point out that a project that would have moved Quake3 to something that is not Quake3 would have been much more dificult to "fork into closesource".
