How can I make a system allocate half of my capital to short trades
and half to long trades? For example, I would like to take 5 long and
5 short positions for multiple stocks meeting my criteria. I hope
that makes sense.
Thanks,

Feature request to IB I presume. They only offer 30 day max backfill

Besides, there is Yahoo and MSN. Both free sources albeit occasionally

Make sure your preferences are set to start of time.
Try adding another qualifier as in:
Buy = (all my secret Rocky The Flying Squirrel stuff)

You're right, this should work. I have similar code somewhere.
Leave out Moose and Squirrel (or put in something real simple)
See if Timenum() portion works.

Slippage cannot be accounted for if it drops in the same day. You would need

CSIData.com
Original price is available in the OI field plus they have all the extinct
stocks and symbol changes too.

Just set SellPrice = Open;
You are trying to fix something that Amibroker already handles with
SetTradeDelays.
// Options
SetTradeDelays(1, 1, 1, 1);
BuyPrice = SellPrice = Open;
Buy = SomeCondition;
Sell = Ref(Buy, 0);

more familiar to you). Then you have special variables that run their
own functions invisible to you. Most notably, Buy-Sell-Short-Cover cause a
backtest to be run.
Check out Understanding AFL in the help section if you haven't already.

Also this line where you have already computed inter2, but recomputed it as
abs(t1):
Test1L = IIf(tempL = True AND abs(t1) 2, True, False);

You can't set an array = the result of the SAME array.

Right click on the CONNECT icon and set your backfill days to 30, then
backfill everything. Then set it back to 5 for ongoing use.

Can't explain it, but you can do this:
Round(tick_size=(Open-Low)/0.0001));

Yes, I'm pretty certain this works. Just use multiple IIf conditions in
your Plot statement, and be careful of the order.
IIf(condition3, colorBlue, IIf(condition2, colorRed, repeat as
necessary...)))
Note: this does NOT work with price Candles.

Hello,
does anyone know how intra-day data is handled in Amibroker? For
example - if you get 5 minute data feed, is it given and intepreted as
one bar that represents what happened in a 5 minute period? i.e.
O,H,L,C
;

No
string arrays in AB.
Best you can do is this or Mark H's
suggestion:
strArray = str1,str2,str3,str4,);
There are functions like StrExtract( list, item ) to extract the values.
