will my system be capable of in the meantime? Is there some subset that will get my desktop back in working order relatively quickly(would emerge
konsole kalarm do? What's the name of the app that displays a panel/taskbar).emerge -1av kdebase-meta will bring in a basic KDE desktop, includingwhat you
that are currently out of date. This particular compilation failure
happened late in an emerge -NDuav kdebase-meta, as the first part of the
upgrade from kde4.4 to kde4.6
Running revdep-rebuild following the emerge didn't help. I still have
some world files that are out of date, but all of those

So far i finally could compile xorg-server and also updated the whole
system, which, at this point, wasn't much anyway. My next goal was kde.
I've compiled about half of all packages which are required for
kdebase-meta, but now i'm stuck at kdelibs and i have no idea what's

wrong.
The problem:
The problem is, the compile doesn't fail - it just hangs/stops. At some
point (which seems to be random - it can stop anywhere between 1% and
100% of the compile) the compile stops
them to
the system with emerge @. Here is one of mine:

kde-apps/kdegraphics-meta

kde-apps/kdeutils-meta

use just to do that).
But you can see from the dependency list that in order to install K3b, I
must install kde-env, kdebase, kdelibs, and kdesu; those are /hard/
dependencies, requried by the application in order for it to run at all;
the applications/libraries installed by the *USE* flags
are required for
kdebase-meta, but now i'm stuck at kdelibs and i have no idea what's
wrong.

want to consider unmerging that, re-emerging just the split ebuilds

It seems to me that it may be easier to just unmerge krfb and forget
about it, but there must be a more elegant solution to this?

kdebase-runtime-meta is installed. k3b was recompiled without
problems. The Configuration dialog of k3b states for both
kind of drives none. And me? I have really no idea, what
is happening here. Previously it works perfectly and I dont
know when its stops working, since
burning device of my system.
Hald is running. vlc can acces the drive for playing dvds.
