Then when she jumped out of my lap this evening she couldn't walk, couldn't stand up. The vet said she had severe kidney failure and could probably live another week with three days of IV fluids and if I'd learn how to give her subcutaneous fluids at home. But even with that massive intervention, she wasn't going to last much longer. I was afraid she was going to suffer too much so I had her euthanized. It was time. Hum Did you check in the refrigerator? Did you take them out the last time you were out and place them in your back seat or trunk? I have a mystery as well... On the spur of them moment, I decided it might be a good idea to check the charge on them & put them on the charger just in case. When I got them out of the camera bag, there was only one D-LI90. WTF??? Where could I have put the other two? They're not in the bag for the K10D & K20D. I've been through all the rest of my gear (including the bags for my film cameras) and they're not anywhere I've thought to look. They're also not in a number of places where I don't keep camera gear, but if I don't look there I can't be sure I didn't hide them away there anyway. One other thing I've figured out; you can't completely trust the blinking green LED on the charger. I have battery grips on all of my DSLRs and I took them off the K-1 & K-3 to check the internal batteries. The K-3 wouldn't turn on without the grip installed. That battery from the K-3 gave the same blinking LED as the new battery that I'm thinking I'm going to have to go back & swap out. Because I had my hands full multi-tasking I had to leave it in place and keep an eye on it, hoping the magic smoke wouldn't leak out of the charger. After a minute or so the LED turned a solid green and it appears to be charging normally. Now I'm not sure what to do about the battery I just bought that gave me the blinking LED? There are some days I feel like my sole purpose in life is to see how many stupid mistakes I can make at one time. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: Battery Woes
I feel for you. I don't have battery problems but I do have a 18-250 Pentax lens that has a lock on the lens. Well it will decide to get locked in the 18 and I can not expand it out and other times it works as it should. I got it used from KEH and of course it decided to act up after their 6 month warranty ran out. I was curious to know how much they would charge to fix it and it was going to be more than I paid for the lens. Needless to say I haven't bought anything from them again because of my experience with this lens. I just took it out of my camera bag to see if it is working and at the moment it is working but I can't trust it to work when I need it to work. Like you it has been a couple of weekends since I have gotten out with my camera. It won't be this weekend because of rain with a slight chance of snow. (Note, I didn't even try to put it on the charger) No problem, Southeastern Camera is only 1.5 miles from my house. So I jumped in the car and headed over to exchange the D-LI109 for a D-LI90. Got home with the correct battery, put it on the charger & the green LED is blinking. The other battery (on the other charger) has a solid green. Check the manual & it says if the LED is blinking to replace the battery. I called Southeastern & he's got another D-LI90 in stock, but I'm not going back there again tonight. I think this is all a symptom of a bigger problem, I've lost my muse. I haven't really felt like getting out with the camera for several months now. If I'd been shooting regularly, I'd know where those other spare batteries had got to, because I'd be using them. Additionally, I had to buy two new SD cards for the K-1 because I had all three cards (Slot 1, Slot 2 & spare in the battery grip) filled up and hadn't downloaded them. Can't shoot with full cards. I did have a spare, unopened 64GB 300x Lexar card I bought during East Coast School in June. I tried to get matching cards, but found out Lexar went out of business. Finally, I looked at a used SMC Pentax-DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED WR lens, but looking it up on the internet, it's apparently an APS-C only lens. I didn't notice the vignetting when I looked at the two test shops I took while I was in the in the store, but now that I'm home and looked again, it's pretty obvious and severe. DRAT! OT: 2019 Calendars
Last year Ann introduced me to a company that prints her calendars. I created three of them last year and this year I have created an additional three and updated and revised the older three. I am some what jumping the gun on mentioning the calendars as the three newest haven't been approved for the storefront. You can view the listings for all of them and also view the collections I created to house the images of each different calendars. I set up the collections so if by chance anyone was interested in purchasing a print of one or more images they could easily locate the image(s) of interest. https://www.photocapturesbyjeffery.com/wall-calendars I have been working on this off and on most of the weekend. I woke up and kept a headache yesterday and it has some what gone away today but now I am having some other issue that is keeping the bathroom busy. PESO: Portrait of Hoot Barred Owl perched
While at Radnor Lake I took the road trail close to the lake first off early morning on a mission to hopefully get the privilege of seeing either the otters or the beavers. Well I didn't get that privilege but I did get to see one of the Barred Owls. Later in the visit and before I was going to leave I decided to head back around again to see if I could get lucky and see the owl again. Well to my surprise it was still at the same spot but just a bit higher up. There is another trail that goes into the wood above the lake so I took it to get a closer look. While standing there for a bit the owl decided to fly up beside me on its way to a nice meal. It was the first time I have been touched by the wings of a Barred Owl in flight. This is one of it perched before it was took off: http://www.photocapturesbyjeffery.com/owls-in-nature/eaa2b4fe9 Now for those of you that don't mind seeing what it was eating on, here is one of it perched a top of a dead tree having a mid morning meal. http://www.photocapturesbyjeffery.com/owls-in-nature/eaa2b4f6e I am still working on the rest of the images from the visit to Radnor Lake. -- Jeffery Johnson | Photo Captures by Jeffery http://www.PhotoCapturesbyJeffery.com /Diverse range of photography Artistic - Animals - Events/Festivals - Transportation - Pets - Nature - Scenic - Cityscape. Ann, Thanks for sharing your calendar and the site you are now using. I have begun uploading some photos to create a calendar. Should work on it this evening but my brain is rather tired and I am finding it hard to focus on the creative at the moment. I am curious have you purchased a calendar to see the quality first hand. Did you create a separate cover image in an editing program or will their site allow you to create such a design? Okay my brain says it is time for more coffee so will send this on its way. Re: K3 II image count on SD Cards
I have it set to save only DNG files and have it set for SD 1 and when full it is to start recording to SD 2. What my confusion is with the total it shows on the back of the camera. Example: On back of camera it shows card holds 250 images in SD1 and when I fill the card up and it does as it should and records to the next card. Shouldn't the number that remains on the menu for SD1 be 0 available? It shows a high number that is still available. I hope that makes some sense. I have had a really really bad day at my day job and my brain is not fully functioning at the moment. Trying my best not to worry or be overly stressed but keeps getting harder and harder to be optimistic and to make any sort of future plans. Sorry don't mean to vent. Jeffery On 7/27/2017 11:24 AM, Stanley Halpin wrote: I am not sure I understand. A little more information please… How do you have your cards set up? I.e., are you recording to both cards at once? Or do you have slot 1 as the default, then rolling over to slot 2 when the first card is full? Or do you switch back and forth between the two cards during the day depending on subject matter or whatever? Are both cards the same size? Also note that usually Lightroom and other such programs are set to only import New images. Were both cards Formatted in camera before your recent session? If not then maybe you have many more images on one or both cards; you camera sees them but your LR won’t pay attention to them… That would definitely confuse the count. I have always set the two slots with DNG capture on slot 1, simultaneous jpeg capture on slot 2 and so have never had exactly your situation. stan -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
K3 II image count on SD Cards
I ended up saving up and got the K3II. I have come across what may or may not be an issue. I posted this to the Pentax Forum but I haven't heard from anyone yet so thought I would see if anyone here might have an answer. I was downloading images to my computer from this weekends outings. I had thought all images recorded to one SD Card but as I was going through the images I realized not all of them were on the card. I checked the other card that I partially used on Sunday and sure enough 31 of the images from Saturday were on that card. Everything recorded correctly so that isn't an issue but I am confused by what the camera states as far as what is left on the card. See link to image and you will notice that I ended up switching the cards when I put them back into the camera. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/attachments/58-troubleshooting-beginner-help/363948d1501108341-k3-ii-image-count-sd-cards-0726171705.jpg Saturday SD1 = 168 + 31 that was added to SD2 Sunday SD2 an additional 7 (too hot to do much more than that) What is the issue if there is one? Being only 12km from the Phalaborwa gate, it very popular with day tripping locals. Late Sat. morning, there was a Leopard sighting at the dam. Social media enticed hordes of visitors (including me - returning, having seen the Leopard in the morning & hoping for another sighting) but we got far more than we bargained for. Early arrivals who went to the E corner of the dam where the Leopard had been spotted earlier were cut off by a large herd of Elephants which approached behind them from the N. Later arrivals, including me, were forced to stop at the NW corner of the Dam. We were entertained by a relay of elephants having mud-baths, mock fighting, trumpeting & rumbling all amongst the cars. They then slowly moved off along the dry river bed to the W. Most of the cars then moved to the E corner only to encounter a second herd arriving from the NE. A third herd also arrived from the SW & entered the mud from the other side. The cars were all trapped between the two herds. Fortunately the Elephants weren't particularly aggressive & the drivers well behaved so we were able to enjoy spectacular sightings of Elephant behaviour without incident. However, I must say it was very scary to be trapped in the middle of over 100 Elephants. This GESO cannot really reproduce the drama but it does give some idea. There is also a shot of a Spoonbill calmly dabbling for food, completely unfazed by the Elephants & one of the Leopard taken in the morning. https://www.flickr.com/photos/wisselstroom/albums/72157683376221952 K7 with the HD 55-300. Re: Help! Showing Photos at Art Show
I wouldn't worry about other products for the time being. We, me and a friend go out with our cameras together and we have set up at different shows/events, have gotten blank 5x7 greeting cards, clear bags to put them in, spray adhesive, and printed off 4x6 prints. We have a spinner rack that we have them hanging on but you can just do the clear bags and have them in a nice box for easy browsing. We sell a lot of them along with prints. It really is hard to say what some one will buy but for the most part what ever the photo is of it will speak to the person. Also letting the person discuss their connection to the photo and adding your insight into why and what to fores of your purpose of the photo. As you probably already know have business cards handy and any other promotional materials. Don't hand them out to everyone that comes by your booth just to the ones that show true interest in finding out more about you. I am curious what do you mean you have to bring full sized photos? Also do you have a website with your photography? You can find my photographic art on my site by clicking the link below. Nice ones. I got a wild hair early this morning and heading out to Radnor Lake and walked the trail. It was rather cold and windy which weather wise would have been normal if it hasn't been in the mid to upper 70's last week. Not much wildlife but like you plenty of chickadees flying and hopping about. My hands were rather cold so didn't even attempt to capture their images.
