[ppp] Connection terminated
Don't know if this will work for you. I found that for
the few moments that I connected a couple of ip
addresses were put into one

I have a ~x86 box that is dial up only and uses ppp. Last weekend an
'emerge -uD world' seemed to complete without issue but now I can't make
a ppp connection as seen by the error attached below. I admit to not
knowing my way around udev yet & what I've read isn

Hi everyone,
I had heard that kernel 2.6.15 had VPN support. So, I went to
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Set_up_a_vpn_client_with_mppe_encryption
to figure out how to configure my kernel compilation. The only
problem is, there doesn't appear to be PPP support anywhere in the
kernel.

Well, I look there, and like the example file, there is nothing about ppp and
where to put all the ppp options. The closest thing is the ADSL, but it

Fine. Me not. That's the whole point of having choices :)
Uhm - reading again what you wrote: "Me too!". By default,

Hi to all,
I managed to make Option Globetrotter Card working in Gentoo

Assuming that you have udev, take a look in here:
/etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev.rules
and you should see
KERNEL="ippp0", NAME="%k", GROUP="tty"
perhaps when you upgraded ppp* changed to ippp*?
you could try changing the configuration of the program you're
t the server is configured to use L2PT/PPP
and not just PPP. I'm pretty sure that's where I'm going wrong.
I have every L2TP option set in my kernel as well as all the
tunnel and ppp/pppoe options I can find (knowing very little about
the subject), but I can't tell if my attempt

sorted it ... was ppp running through a vlan, not a vlan running through
ppp :)
