Hi Mark -
Sorry you're still having troubles.  The only thing I can imagine about 
the Outlook pab file is that your backup file must somehow be 
corrupted?  Just doesn't make sense that it wouldn't work unless the 
file is bad.

About the Word crashing issue... after you installed XP did you make 
sure to install the motherboard's chipset drivers?  In fact, go into 
Device Manager and make sure you've got NO red X's or yellow !'s.  Bad 
drivers will def cause crashes and other weird behavior - and forgetting 
to install proper chipset drivers is a very common error when changing a 
motherboard.

Open Office is an open source, freeware, office suite that supposedly 
rivals MS Office.  It is compatible with most or all of MS Office file 
formats too.  I've never used it my self, but it is hugely poplar with 
millions of people.  Here's the download site:
