Chris, I would never claim to have anything but a rudimentary grasp of marketing. If I did, I'd probably be a billionaire now. That said, even if 1000 people had the same complaint as my loud friend, it would be less than 1/10th of 1 percent of the user base. That's not enough to spur me into making a change that would enhance a free app. My primitive marketing sense tells me to limit the free app to functionality inherent in the stated purpose and nothing more. If I started added all the niceties that users suggest, I wouldn't have much to sell when (if?) the subscription model does arrive on the Android market. Best to leave it as it is. Even my complaining buddy is going to keep the app, so that suggests there is utility in it even though it annoys the heck out of him.
