It's a lot to ask but, if someone with Maya 2010 and success getting a
collada file importing smoothly could look at MayaLab4_16.mb to give
me some more advice about how to go about getting some colors or
textures on the model, I'd appreciate it.

Fabrice, the log just let me know that the file was successfully
loaded.
