Man I would like to help you very much but I don't know Maya. Try may be older version of the program .

Just so no one wastes time helping me troubleshoot, and in case there
are any people as ignorant as I am: I'm able to get the model loaded
using a single texture that I created with the 3D Paint Tool in Maya
2010. It saves out an image that I'll probably tweak in photoshop or
something after all the elements are painted so I know what they are.

Your program works fine - very cool thanks - it's that my model is
only coloring polygons. I did find that I had to put projects in the
root because I think the loader may confused when paths have spaces in
them.

Can someone explain how to generate a flattened picture like the mario
texture example? By deleting user and window preference files, I can
run the UV Texture editor in Maya 2010 again but, it isn't showing my
polygons as being colored like they are in the model view. Also, I
can't see how to output the flattened model as an image to use as a
texture for the entire model.

Mmm should trace the url if an atempt to load a texture is made. Gonna
check that.

It's a lot to ask but, if someone with Maya 2010 and success getting a collada file importing smoothly could look at MayaLab4_16.mb to give
me some more advice about how to go about getting some colors or
textures on the model, I'd appreciate it.

Fabrice, the log just let me know that the file was successfully
loaded.

Thanks, I'll check that out. I just uploaded the collada file if you
have time to take a look.

In Prefab if white default map are set its like 99% of cases
because of an url error.

--> open menu under windows/loading log
traces lots of usefull tips about whats happening...

plus you are able to set by hand your map on the mesh(es) and
export after that

Hi, I'm a programmer type who is trying to get a model from Maya
2010
into some format that Away3D will like. I've done some
recreational
Away3D programming with flex but, am now trying to virtualize our
company's lab so that our customers can walk around it. It's
been a
very frustrating effort. I started with Sketchup where I completed the model. Found out that the collada output is unusable. The 3DS format was better but, still broken. I am using a trial version of Maya 2010. In order to get it importable, I used Meshlab to fix it
up. I am using OpenCollada to get the file out and am able to
load it
into preFab but, the model is just a white silhouette. I think
that
there are a few concepts that I just am unaware of. Hoping someone
can help me get past this hurdle.

Is there a way to build a single image from my painted Maya model
that
will provide a texture for all the walls and floor, etc? I was
able
to load a demo collada file and apply a material in away3D but, i wasn't able to change materials at run time or even get more than
one
texture to properly load from a simple collada file. If it
involves
the UV Texture Editor, the UV Texture editor in Maya crashes the
application every time I open it. I definitely underestimated this
project and would appreciate any insight!
