There's nothing complex about organising album display to be more readable.  
There's already a sort by feature, which is broken.  It could be fixed and 
enhanced, without adding any complexity.  That *could* lead to performance 
problems for power users with hundreds of albums for a single artist, *if* they 
were to sort by contributor role.  But a similar issue would happen today if 
they sort by "artist, album", surely?

Browsing an artist in Spotify follows a very similar principle.  It lists the 
artists most popular songs first, then their regular albums (in descending year 
order), then their singles, and then compilations.

Various other web resources present an artists works in a similar way, its not 
an alien concept.  eg. AMG provides a separate list of albums, compilation 
appearances, singles & EPs, and Others.

There are many other areas of the product that are more complex than what is 
being discussed here.
