The finish is eroding off some lights I have. It's over $100 per reflector to replace the part. Thanks in advance! Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi all, I'm planning on doing the OBDII conforti cam/injector/plenum/etc upgrade to my 97 E36 M3 this month so I will be looking to sell my stock 3.2 M3 cams and injectors, and my ECIS cold air intake. The parts will be coming off the car in the first two weeks in february, so you should be able to have them in your hand by the 3rd week in Feb. Make me an offer! Please email me with offers or questions. Bentley says 540 ohms between the black and yellow wires. I assume the third wire is a shield. Since it was 2F out side and I couldn't get the little rubber boot back with gloves on, measured across all the pins. I got an open circuit, another open circuit, and 0 ohms. None of these looks like 540 Ohms. I guess it is dead. In other measurements, the coil was dead on the specs, and the fuel pumps were drawing about 2A. I feel that may be a little low, but I could be wrong. Motors have gotten much more efficient since '87. -- Joe -- Joseph M. This may attenuate the RF from the remote. Are things more consistent if you hang the remote out of the window? Have you dropped the transmitter recently or frequently? It may have drifted in that case. You should also check that the receiver antenna is hanging free and not wrapped or shielded by the drive system rail. -Kevin ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jan 2004 16:06:44 -0800 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: <OT> Lame Remote Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mike, I forgot to mention. Do not under any circumstances wire a 9V battery into the remote. It will probably work for a while but if there is any new circuitry in it will fry. Modern cell batteries such as Lithium Ion have a very good output until they reach depletion and then rapidly decline. -Kevin ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jan 2004 22:39:59 -0500 From: "Mike Gambini" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "BMW digest" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: carfax reports needed Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> would anyone be willing to run a couple carfaxes for me on BMW M3's? BMW seemed to improve Land Rover quality a little within a couple years of the purchase but it was not until 1999 that they replaced the Lucas fuel injection system on the Range Rover P38 with a Bosch unit similar to the system on the 7 Series. The current Range Rover L322 is the only Land Rover that has been sold in North America with a BMW engine (Land Rover has sold Range Rovers in Europe with BMW 6cyl diesel engines for years and some Defenders assembled in South Africa were sold with BMW M50 6cyl gas engines). The Overfinch company http://www.overfinch.com/ has been building high performance Range Rovers for years and are now selling a high performance model with a 4.9L BMW V8 (the M5 of the SUV world). http://www.overfinch.com/New_RangeRover/580s_press_release.pdf Kevin Kelly Long term BMW and Land Rover owner ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jan 2004 21:46:04 -0800 From: Mark Dadgar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: bmwuucdigest <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Free E36 Stuff Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Left over from my race car build - get it out of my garage. Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I'm writing with a fairly specific E36 car audio question for those that have BTDT... I have a set of JL Audio Stealthboxes in the rear and a/d/s 235is components in the front of a 4 dr E36, and I am in the process of buying a new, moderate power amplifier to drive them. I am looking at two amps. - Eclipse 3422 - Alpine MRV F340 They are both app 50w/ch 4 channel speakers. The Alpine offers adjustable crossover levels, while the Eclipse is fixed at 90 hz Is an adjustable crossover level required? or am I OK with the Eclipse with the fixed crossovers at 90 hz? Has anyone with this combination fiddled with the optimal frequency to set for (Or is this a matter of preference?). Any other comments about the brands? Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Marc- Seeing as both amplifiers that you are considering are of good quality and value, I personally would choose the Alpine with its adjustable crossover levels. I have found that it is almost necessary to have adjustable crossover levels in order the fine tune the xover point properly in the car enviroment. Also, the midranges/woofers on the a/d/s/ set might not be happy at a 90Hz crossover point and might prefer one a bit higher (or even lower). Good luck! The changer in my '99 M3 has jammed and rather than spend a lot of money on repairs I was considering replacing it with a Phatnoise unit. Most web sites only list the Phatnoise for newer E46 models, except for Bavarian Auto. Any recommendations, experience, other brands to consider that are compatible? Definitely make sure your computer has a good USB 2.0 High-Speed (in distinction to "USB 2.0 Full-Speed" AKA USB 1.1 that marketing renamed) port for the data transfer to your PB hard drive or the transfers will be really, really slow. Siig makes good PCI cards for this if it's not built into your computer. The interface to your stereo will probably be through a Blitzsafe adapter for the E36, which may be the same as the E46's because I believe the E46 uses the same 1996+ CD changer as the E36. I have mine mounted in the same place as the CD changer, except upside down. I had to make some brackets for it because the PB uses different mounting holes than the BMW changer, but it's held up well, and has been to several track schools with no issues. Here are some pictures of how it's mounted: http://www.silcom.com/~andrey/pb.html Feel free to ask more questions or email me. --Andre ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Jan 2004 15:35:25 -0600 From: Dennis Wynne <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Phatnoise MP3/WMA player Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I have heard from several folks over on the car stereo section of RoadFly that have the PhatBox and they all seem to love it. It is available for E46 cars - even if you have DSP (they use the BlitzSafe DSP adapter - which uses a RadioShack analog to digital box!) http://www.phatnoise.com/products/digitalmediaplayers/bmw.php It is very expensive! But it does hold a lot and does integrate into the car system. On our cars we can't get the track info so it uses the "SSA" system: http://www.phatnoise.com/products/digitalmediaplayers/ssa.php This interface is a lot better than the Alpine MP3 changer - but this is an expensive system. $859 and up for 20gb. You can get a BlitzSafe CD adapter with aux in and then use either a portable MP3 player (ipod, Zen, etc) or satellite radio. Most will also support an Alpine 6 disc MP3 changer - it dropped right in the OEM bracket in my car. The only trouble with this is you just get "disc 1 track 203" or something. No MP3 tags or folders. The BS adapter and Alpine MP3 changer were cheaper than the cost of an OEM changer. In my case I already had the OEM changer, but wanted aux in for my XM radio.
