The price at Tire Rack was pretty moderate and the look is much better than TRX. I don't see the tire's being offered for the E23 now, but the they did have the correct fitment for 16" with the 20mm offset for the 7. -Kevin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 14:50:44 -0500 From: "Milliet, Ron P." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'[EMAIL PROTECTED]'" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: <E34> Buying advice needed on E34 for an E30 guy Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello Group...long time no post! It has been 3 years now since I sold my beloved E30s. While I love my Porsche, the Wife's Mercedes (97 C230) has been the pits. No fun to work on, no fun to drive...hell I do not even like washing the thing. While crrrrreeeping along the other days in this otherwise anemic automobile, I spot a white bimmer parked in someone's yard with a for sale sign in the window. Turns out it is a second owner 89 535i. Looks to be very clean and straight. Good history and paperwork. Original owner bought a new (reman) tranny from BMW about 3 years ago. Owner is asking $4,300, it has 175,000 miles. So I mention it to Wife and it was very well received. She does not like the Merc either. She has made it clear over the years, she would be more happy with her old BMW (87 325is) back. Now I am actually considering selling the 97 Merc and replace it with a BMW almost 10 years older. I am looking for advice from folks that know the E34. Specifically: ** What are some things to look hard at during buyers check? ** Electrical--Better than 7 series of same vintage? ** As many resources available for the DIYer as E30 cars? Bentley? E34 web sites? Used parts? etc ** Any "special" issues with the 89 model (first year of the E34)? Thank you very much. Also, try the E34 section at www.bimmer.info - active E34 community. You should find most of your answers there. It has all the good stuff, is easily upgradeable, but doesn't have the tricky and expensive parts. There is tons of web info. Check to make sure you have heat when you want it and don't when you don't... Sometimes just get full heat at floor boards, etc. - Seats rock (not a real good fix for this) - Shimmy on braking (need thrust arms/bushings) - Clunk over bumps (need sway bar links) For more info, try http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main.htm I've found the Bently to be decent, but sometimes confusing, always double-check if it doesn't seem right to you. Hope that helps, Doug 94 - 540iA with all of the above problems! Black/Black 525iA M50TU (3/95 build date I believe) Montana leather, heated seats, mirrors, etc. Factory CD changer, integrated cell phone, keyless entry/alarm Recent service includes water pump, BMW coolant (distilled water), fan belt (~150 miles) u/l Control arm bushings (~7-8k miles), new tires (~5k miles) - Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Everything works on the car (except the trans). Dash is fully functional, all lights work, etc. The car is in great shape, well maintained. My mom was going to sell the car next year, anyway, so she decided to sell it as-is rather than put a trans in it then sell it. Car is located near Ft Wayne, IN $4500 obo Andy 88iX ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 22:10:55 -0500 From: Ed MacVaugh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: FS [E34] 95 525iA for sale - needs tranny Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> How many miles on it?
