Is this the same as removing an E36 door. Couple screws bahind the handle?
Need to replace broken handle on a 1998 E39. Any gotchas? Need new vapor
barrier when you pull the door?

Thanks

Bah, whiners... If every E30 owner complained of sagging shock
towers... ;-)

I have to say I have never had a car where the front and rear suspension
mount points getting bent or ripping off the car has been an issue before
now. My old 914 could have had issues at some point because of rust, but
that isn't the problem with BMWs. I honestly wouldn't have bought it if I
had this info prior to purchase, but I like driving it so much I guess I am
stuck now :)
Roundel Tech Talk does go on a bit - Hondas and Toyotas chew up expensive
auto trannies too and they cost just as much to fix (don't ask how I know).

Very good impression, Rich. I actually had an urge to reach through my

Ok, so after I got the procedure right and fabricated a tool, the blower
came out. Turned when motorcycle battery power was applied. Back into the
car it goes and voila it ran...for a few days. One morning on the way to
work and the unmistakable smell of burning electrics permeates the cabin. I
almost waited to see if a fire would erupt to solve the problem for me.

But, I can't stand to see anything wasted. Power off and a few days later,
out comes the motor again and it still spins. In looking at the Bentley for
IHKR I systems, there is a resistor pack and final speed controller (or
something along those lines). Do these tend to fry themselves on high
mileage cars? Anyone know if they could be bypassed to provide power to the
fan, albeit at full high most likely.

Either those two or the dash controls?

Cheers,

Roland

IIRC there was no strut bar. And that was the first but not last
split seam I've seen, and not the first crowning either.

Just wondering how messy it was to get into the door panel...Not take off the
door. Interior handle on a friend's E39 broke.

I can see the exploded views in the parts listing, but disassembly isn't well
documented w/o bently which I don't have for an E39. Yes, I referred him to
Don's E39 group.

Straight forward EXCEPT, there is a screw inside the defrost vent at the
leading edge of the door panel. Many a dealer tech ripped out that vent
during the learning curve in 1996.
