"Argument? Oh sorry, this is contradiction. Arguments are down the hall."

Walter is an all-around good guy too. He's letting me drive his car at the
next GGC autocross, since mine is behaving kinda poorly these days (long
story), and he declined my offer to bribe him for the privilege. He's a
more frequent contributor on the Bay Area E30 Network forum:

www.baye30.net

(Disclaimer: Walter never worked on my car. Mainly because I don't live
in Sacramento.)

I have 235/40-17 tires on my 1997 328i with standard (not lowered)
suspension, and apparantly plenty of room in the wheelwells. Will
235/45-17 tires also fit this vehicle?

Howard,

According to this calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/
tirecalc.html Your speedo will be 3.8% too slow. When your speedo
reads 60mph, you're actually traveling 62.3mph. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

I dont think his speedo is right now if he has 17s on a 97 328. That was
not an option that year as far as I know.

Wheel size is relatively irrelevant, so long as the wheel isn't larger
than the outside of the original tire. . .

What matters is the tire's revolutions per mile based upn the outside
circumference of the tire.

My tires are as follows, 245-40-17 rear and 225-45-17 on stock M3 rims with
M3 suspension on my 99 328iC. Mine does sit a little lower than a stock 328
though. The rears used to rub on speed bumps and the fronts rubbed on hard
cornering before the M3 suspension.

I've used 235/45 front, 255/40 rear, on a '97 //M3 with pleasing
results. Mark's speedo error calculation is correct, about 4% depending
on brand.
The ride is more insulated from the road. Most of the extra sidewall
flex can be dialed out with higher tire pressure.

Hi all, I'm back!

Does anyone have a carfax account? If you do, could you run a VIN for me?
I'd gladly paypal you something for your troubles.

Thanks!

Speakin' of which, I posted about a week ago but no
one responded so I'll try again.

I'm replacing these plastic window glides in
my passenger door soon. Only one was
broken, but I figured I'd change all four while I'm in
there. Wondering what type of grease I should use, as
the old stuff is pretty caked and stiff now, I want to
clean it out and regrease everything. Is lithium
grease a good choice or perhaps a synthetic Mobil 1
grease?

Thanks,
Brian
