Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

E36 M3, 1999 with SC.
Symptom, idle just started to act strangley. Engine will idle at 1.1k rpm
and when changing gears the drivetrain feels different at the clutch as if
the engine is still reving and not falling.
I looked at the accelerator cable this morning at the throttle housing and
it looks OK. I will look at the plate over the weekend in case it's a
gummed around the plate. While in there I'll clean it with a sensor safe
cleaner.

I also read Bret's writeup on the replacing the IAC valve but I could not
find the plastic clip (on RealOEM) that he refers to on his instructions.
Anyone know where I can see a picture of this piece?

-Kevin

Might also be the TPS.

I think the write up you're talking about is for OBDI cars. Idle valve
on the S52 is bolted into place.

I'm with Gary, first thought of a cause is the TPS, if not a sticking
throttle.

I'd like to sell off the set of 4 stock wheels from my '99 323i. They are
the 7 spoke 16x7 factory wheels, the ones that have basically a rectangular
spoke. I think from checking online they are style 45, BMW P/N 36 11 1 094
498. They're in good shape, some curb rash, they are not perfect. They are
clean though, not dented or out of round or rusty or anything like that,
just curb rash. The come with 205/55/16 Kumho 716 HP4 tires that have a lot
of tread left. They have no uneven wear patterns or anything, in very good
shape. Asking $500 plus shipping from 48116. I don't know what these are
worth so if my price is too high please lemme know. If it's too low, well
good for you then. Cheers.

Does anyone have a look-up site where I might find out the factory (BMW of
course !) colour codes for interior materials from prior years ?
Specifically I need to find the code for the dark reddish-brown
(brownish-red?) leather used on seats in 1998 325ic convertibles . It's the
same colour used on the two and four door I'm pretty sure 'cuz I have some
of those seats . Only problem is , there seems to be quite a variance in the
'tint' amongst them ...which is no surprise with 20 yr old dead cowhide that
has been subjected to various things .sun, kids, cleaners etc .........but I
wanna get close as possible for a reupholstering job on mine ....

All clues gratefully received ........

Last seven digits of the vin will get you the color code from BMW. pm me
the number and I can find out tomorrow.

Brett Anderson might have access, or Mike Miller from the club.

World Upholstery doesn't have accurate E36 colors on their site.

Bill

There was no 1998 325 anything, coupe, convertible nor sedan. A 98
likely wouldn't have 20 year old dead cowhide. A 1988 325i E30
convertible might.

Whatya got?

WOOPS !! MY BAAD ........I meant 1988 325ic !! Apologies for the slipped
digit ...........one of the joys of old age (?)

It has been pointed out to me that
The red shown in the att is presumably what I am trying to match . This site
gives the BMW code for vat-dyed leather

http://www.worlduph.com:80/bmwlea.htm

Thanks for all the advice

Bill,

There were no browns used on E30 cars, so yours is red.

There were two reds used on E30 in 88,

karmes.rot in abbreviated German code 0324

cardin.rot in abbreviated German code 0296

Pop up the rear seat bottom, look for the build sheet pasted to the
sound deadening or jammed into the underside of the seat and look for
the holster code, it will likely be one of those two numbers in four digits.

HTH,

Ed
