I am looking for a replacement chin spoiler for the later model cars.

It fits in place of the narrow strip or "is" front spoilers and was
after market, I believe from Germany.

It protrudes on the bottom like the EVO E30 M3 spoiler and I believe
held on using the factory plastic clips just as the factory two
alternatives did.

I thought it was sold by Lowen Design, but they appear to be gone from
cyberspace.

I also tried Schmidmann from Scandinavia, but their site is havin
problems in the English version.

Anyone?

Ed

Last night the telltale grindgruggle silence repeat at random sound
began, so this morning I set out to find a water pump.
Biking over to the dealer that used to be named Allison, they wanted
!$112. for one that said BMW on the box. Nfw, so next door at Kragen,
a composite impeller style that's a dead ringer for OEM, made in Italy,
was $68 that includes a lifetime warranty. The deal said the BMW part
only would get a warranty if it was installed by the dealer too.
Never know when the stealer bug will hit an item, as they still sell BMW
brand antifreeze for $20.
What's the deal with the warranty on dealer parts? is the dealer parts
department bs'ing me?

Barry

IIRC all dealer repairs have a 12month/12K mile warranty. But its been a
long time since I had something done on a BMW at a dealer.

To be fair to the dealers - I believe that if that dealer installed
waterpump craps itself and causes other damage they will cover that
subsequent repair.

Kragen will give you back your $68 (or maybe another water pump).

I bought a metal impeller Graf pump last year when the factory M54

I discovered recently, though, that the following parts, when bought
from and installed by the stealer, have a "limited lifetime warranty"

- Shock absorbers
- Strut inserts
- Mufflers
- Alternators (new & remanufactured)
- Starters (new & remanufacturered)
- Water pumps

I believe non-electrical over-the-counter parts otherwise have
1yr/12kmi warranties, though.

All parts sold over the counter in the US carry a 24 month unlimited
mileage warranty. This warranty does not include labor unless the part
was installed by the dealer.

Electrical parts carry no different warranty and the battery warranty is
the same as well, no pro-rating of battery life.

Gruppe,

After 10 yrs of occasional use, my Lincoln Hydraulic Floor Jack has
gone south. It will start to raise the car but only goes a few inches
up and no farther. I guess it could be low on hydraulic fluid and/or a
seal has given up. This was no fun when I was swapping over to winter
tires, but luckily I use jack stands as backup and could use the OE
jack to get the job done.
How do I approach repair?
TIA,

I had the same symptoms when I accidentally left the glovebox door open for
a week on my '87 325. The SI batteries were completely discharged, not to
mention the main 12v car battery :(. The tach, SI, etc. only came back when
I put in a new, fully-charged set of SI batteries. Mine were NiCad, YMMV

HTH,
Evan
