Subject: Suspension Question #1 Dinan Koni suspension for E30 M3
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I have had a Dinan stage 3 suspension package in my basement for 5 or so
years and want to use it before O'fest.

It has Koni yellow shocks. I plan to install them in stock reinforced
(Turner kit) front strut housings.

I have factory bump stops from the dealer with factory dust covers from
the dealer.

I plan to use some motor oil in the housings to aid in cooling the
shocks. Is this correct for these shocks?

I need to know how much to cut off, if any, from those bump stops.

TIA,

Ed

I now have a set of M3 stock springs to install in daughter #2's E30 325is.

Anyone have a good working set of Bilstein Sports?

Car currently has Bilstein HDs which could be partial trade if anyone is
going that direction :-)

TIA,

Ed

I have an E30 rear subframe modified with Dinan slotted location and an
Ireland Engineering slotted location.

Thus, I am able to adjust camber and rear toe.

Can someone suggest settings suitable for an old man driving mostly
interstate (to O'fest) with Dinan lowering springs and Koni yellow
shocks. Minimal payload, two occupants.

TIA,

Ed

I've been thinking of digging in and trying to fix the dripping PS
fluid leak on the 528, but haven't been able to find the time yet. But
this morning we found that if you hit it right here, it stops leaking in
about a minute:

Hey everyone,

My neighbor has been enamored with all of my BMW antics enough that he is
wanting to get one. Initially he was simply looking for a decent E36 325/8
in the $6k range but since I've gotten my E38 and his budget has increased
he's interested in a variety of options. From speaking with him I think
he's most interested in an E39 540 6spd. His budget is about $10-12k so I'm
not sure if that can work for him or not, I have not looked into them yet.
Certainly, as always, a nicer car that is well maintained at a higher price
is preferred to one that requires attention immediately. Duties center
around daily driving and kid shuttling so mods are not preferred. Cars with
roll bars/stiff suspensions are out for sure.

If an E36 or E46 he'd secretly prefer a coupe but a 4 door is fine. Manual
transmission is the ticket in any car, no autos. Personally I think a
decent E46 would be the best solution for him overall but he's more or less
leaving it to me to find him the right car and I think anything he's been
interested in is considerable.

I am located in Michigan west of Detroit about 45miles and we are willing to
travel for the right car. I don't think we'll be going too far west though,
certainly not west of the Rockies. For cars that are further away/require
travel a PPI will be required. Rust free and clean is the target. Please
email if you have something or know of something.

Cheers.
