extremeist view to yourself until you do.
So only people who feel strongly about something and have a better solution
to that problem are able to participate? That's nice to know. I thought this
was a discussion list.
>>Not everyone who has an abortion did so because they were irresponsible.
Birth control methods FAIL.
Abortion shouldnt be used as birth control.
>>One of the things I made very clear to my now-spouse is that if I were to
get pregnant with a severely disabled child (possible certainly at my age!)
or if the pregnancy were to threaten my life, I wouldn't have the child
Already said I didnt have a problem with abortions for medical emergencies.

If you don't have a better solution, then perhaps you should keep your
extremeist view to yourself until you do. Not everyone who has an abortion
did so because they were irresponsible. Birth control methods FAIL.
We are currently trying to have a kid. One of the things I made very clear
to my now-spouse is that if I were to get pregnant with a severely disabled
child (possible certainly at my age!) or if the pregnancy were to threaten
my life, I wouldn't have the child. It was hard for him to live with - he
has a disabled sister and is a lapsed catholic.

sorry I missed this post in the sea of responses.
hmm....i dont know, am not a doctor, so i cant give a valid medical
emergency. i think if the doctor sits down and tells the mother that her
life could be in danger if she continues the pregnancy, then that should
be
enough information to make it an emergency. but then I am sure that the
same
logic could be used to make the argument that pregnancy itself is a
medical
emergency because "n" number of women die during childbirth every year.

the thing that gets me about this is the people who are content to screw
and
then have an abortion just because they feel they made the wrong decision.
to me this smacks of the selfishness that is pervasive in todays society.
people need to step up and be responsible. if you do something, be a g.d.
adult about it and take responsibility. instead we legalize this horrific
act, and sue mcdonalds because we got too fat, let our brat kids run and
scream in the stores, tailgate in our monster trucks, and dont really give
two shits about how anyone else is doing.
i talk to my grandparents on the phone quite often, and they are amazed at
the mentality of people today, about how much complaining there is for
everything.
the older I get the more sick of this crap I become.
i dont have any solutions, which is a hell in itself.

what's the definition of a medical emergency? That's the rub. I had two
pregnancies that each posed a serious risk to my health. I elected to
continue them, and came away with no permanent consequences. But it was my
decision and had it been otherwise it would have been due to my decision.
Makes all the difference in the world. I would be very much against some
panel telling women oh no, you have to continue this pregnancy because bla
bla is not a serious enough risk to your health.
