No, I think Michael is right.

In Franklin's time, not only would Mr. Stephens been taken off the plane, he would probably have been placed into indentured servitude, jail, or if he was lucky enough to have the money, shipped home on the next flight at his own expense.

Most of the "rights" and "freedoms" that are being argued over did not exist in his time, and probably don't exist now.

(Where is there a right to enter the US by anyone who wants to?)
