If we punish the doctor then we must also punish the mother. > Will having doctors and mothers in jail benefit society? That's kind of a silly argument, isn't it? How is there no obvious punitive action? If you decide that abortion is murder, you charge a doctor and the mother with murder, or accessory to murder. Seems pretty simple to me. Your only argument is that you believe abortion isn't murder. The rest of this stuff is just spurious. > > That next question is should government regulate sex? That is, > unwanted pregnancy is the sole cause for abortion so doesn't it follow > that if we want to eliminate abortion we'll have to regulate sex? Doesn't the government already regulate sex? They decide when a person is old enough for consensual sex, for example. > This would be similar to, say, morphine. It has legitimate uses, but > it can also be a vector for illegal acts. If abortion were illegal > the same would be true of sex. Most pro-lifers would argue that life is more important than sex. Namely, the life of the unborn child. You can't kill someone else, just so you can maintain your sexual liberties. If you argue the 8 1/2 month old fetus is not a child....that's an easy way around that argument, i guess. > > But then I'm a social liberal: I don't think the gov't has any > jurisdiction over my body and so I would favor legal (but regulated) > prostitution, drugs, euthanasia, etc. Euthanasia i'm all for. Prostitution, i never really understood why it was illegal in the first place. Drugs....*shrug*.....i don't see a problem with them being illegal. Only the stupid ones actually get caught. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:177298 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
