I think you'll find that there's a big difference between walking fast and
jogging. And, if you start walking too fast, you can do different kinds of
damage to yourself. I think you're on the right track with slowing adding
additional jogging time to your walking. That seems to be the way that most
people start. What's your goal? Want to run a 5k? Want to run a marathon?

You're probably already past month 1 if you're in good physical shape to
begin with. So, I'd start with month 2.
