That there are other variables in the mix doesn't mean that race doesn't matter; clearly it does. For example, the sentencing guidelines for possession of crack cocaine are much more severe than sentencing guidelines for possession of powder cocaine - there's something that's actually done a lot of damage to inner city communities, while a noted abuser of powder cocaine is sitting in the White House. In 1999 Giuliani shifted NYC educational funds from Brooklyn and the Bronx to Staten Island and Queens - in the meantime, in NYC in a citywide eighth-grade math test 45% of white students met the standards (disturbing by itself), while only 14% of Latinos and 12% of blacks did. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Schmidt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 8:23 AM Subject: RE: Are you Liberal or Conservative > What were you referring to then? > > -----Original Message----- > From: Beth F [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Tuesday, June 18, 2002 11:21 AM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: Are you Liberal or Conservative > > > Then take those on a case by case basis.
