Had a total phys recently. All clear and very healthy. Was informed though I
wouldn't see my daughters wedding if I didn't lose weight.

that statement ("check with your doctor") cannot be understated.
Seriously - you really should talk with your physician.  If you're a
member
of a gym or are planning to join, talk with one of their trainers.  If the
gym has, or your insurance will pay for, a nutritionalist - that'd also be
a
  very good resource.

Like all dramatic changes of diet, you should check with your doctor

Look at some of the people who were the proponents of Atkins - esp Gerry
Halliwell (sp?) AKA Ginger Spice - she went from looking healthy to
    being a stick!

It's a "shock to the system" if you don't balance your nutrients
properly, and your body tends to object if you're too "harsh" with
    things like this

Personally, we just believe in eating heathily (not too much fatty foods
or sugary stuff) and exercise - but we're both heavier than we'd like :P
