yes - I know you really should avoid caffeine because of your lower sugar
intake - but headaches aren't worth it when you can take a small
(occasional) dose of caffeine to prevent the headaches and eventually get
rid of it altogether when your body IS ready.  Caffeine is also going to
dehydrate your system, which isn't very good for your body (especially not
your kidneys, which are going to be put under some strain due to the Atkins
diet).  As for the weak feeling - if it doesn't bother you then fine, I just
wanted to make it clear that if it is torturous for you or prevents you from
functioning the way you want to then definitely eat somme fruit or
something.  I think you'll find that if you do the Atkins diet (but not too
seriously) AND begin an exercise routine, at the end of a few months you'll
be able to stop focussing so much on your diet and return to eating "normal"
meals and will instead be able to focus more on the exercise routine (and
whatever else you want to spend your time concentrating on).  One thing I'd
recommend more than anything is to not take the diet "rules" or the exercise
too seriously... start both in moderation.  Your body will thank you for it.
When you're used to extreme exercise you can push yourself very hard.  If
you try this the first time you work out, you'll break your neck.  Same goes
for diets.  The diet industry (fad diets, anyway) drastically understate the
effectiveness of making very small changes to dietary and exercise routines.
It's not in their best interest to do so.

  Fair comment.

The weak thing is due to lack of sugar. This phase lasts until about day 3
and then you have a huge surge in energy.

The caffeine thing is more to do with what caffeine does in your system.
It
strips sugars from your system. In a low sugar system...that ain't good on
a
diet where sugars are restricted. This should pass :)

After the 2 week induction, I will be introducing All Bran for breakfast.
It
seems silly not to and makes the diet healthier.

The problem I have is that at nearly 20stone I have a BMI of 36. I need to
lose weight for my own sake and the sake of my new born daughter.

This is not a lifestyle choice, but a 'quick fix'.

if you use the diet to lose some weight, you'll be fine... don't be too
extremist with it and don't stay on it for an excessive time... it's not
going to be good for your internal organs in the long run.  I know it's
  old
fashioned, but nothing replaces good old exercise and a balanced diet.
  For
immediate results Atkins will work well, but try to ween yourself off of
  it
and back onto a "regular" diet and exercise as soon as you've hit a
reasonable target weight.  Also, if you're feeling weak - eat something
that's going to put some sugar in your system.  If you're getting
  headaches,
have some caffeine.  You can apply some of the Atkins ideas without
being
  an
extremist and still get some results.  The results may not as radical or
immediate, but you won't have headaches or feel weak.  Just my personal
    opinion.

      Anybody tried this diet.

      Starting weight 274lbs.

I'm on day 2 and feeling weak (apparently this passes). Plus it takes
  you
off caffeine, so have got a caffeine headache.

I'm also trying to eat healthily. I know they say you can eat as much
    bacon
as you physically can get down your throat, but that can't be good.
Can
    it?
