Hi Katy,

I have to disagree with this statement. My first cavalier came into my
home when my youngest was under a year. My baby and my puppy each had
their own playpen side by each and were only allowed to play together under
supervision. My Hannah is such a great dog person now and a very competant
little handler/helper at 7 years of age. She has always spent more of her
time with the dogs than any of my other children, frequenly sitting in
their crates and reading them stories. I think that all of my children are
more tolerant and kind from having the opportunity to share their lives
with these wonderful little dogs. This little dog was never in the way or
out of the limelight...she is still a spoiled happy girl who rules the
roost here.

I take each situation on it's own, when deciding if I will let a family
with young children have a pup. One of my best and favorite puppy families
was a family of 4 young boys...and I let them have my tiniest girl in one
litter. Even though she was small in stature, she was as rough and tough
as they come. This little girl, became the daughter the mom never had and
she lives like a queen in their home. Many people thought that I was crazy
giving a small baby to a home with 4 active young boys....but I knew after
meeting them and seeing how the boys and their parents interacted that it
was a good fit and I have never regretted letting her go to them. She has
matured into a lovely and well taken girl.

Just another opinion,
Kind regards,
Kim
