LOL, maybe I should go back to my usual lurking status since I seem to have
gotten myself into trouble by not making myself clear! I was talking about
the great dogs who have been maligned. I can think of several who have had
a great impact on the breed and for whatever reason, people have told ME,
personally, that there was something wrong with them. When I ask how they
know this for a fact? LOL, they have no proof. It's all based on hearsay.
Unfortunately, those dogs are now gone.

One of the first great dogs I heard about was Basil. Someone told me (with
great authority) that he died from MVD. Did they have proof? NO! I do
find it interesting though to look at the heart registry and to see his
offspring over 5 and heart clear. Or to talk to those with his offspring
over 5 who can produce the heart clear certificates. Or to talk to a
breeder who used Basil in her breeding program and knows, for a fact, that
he was heart clear. I just find it disheartening that there seem to be
people who are hell bent on spreading misinformation. I think this hurts
our breed immensely!
