We have two human children, ages 12 and 14. Some blood tests
were done at the hospital soon after birth. The doctor mentioned what
blood type each had, which is the only reason I remember that. Both
were healthy.
The kids do have blood panels as part of the doctor exams every few years.
The insurance company has refused prescription bills and other bills,
but has never balked at blood work bills. Locally, free cholesterol
checks are offered to all grade school children in either 4th or 5th grade.

Personally, I think a baseline blood panel is a good idea. Most
vets do a blood panel before spay/neuter surgery so pets often have
this baseline work done.
