Kim, My vet, like many, have pre-arrangements with their lab to do Diagnostic Health Profiles, which includes a CBC, Thyroid, among others at a reduced rate. It is 1/4 the cost of doing the CBC and Thyroid separately. The vet and the lab are doing this in hopes to maybe catch some problems, whether diabetes, kidney, liver, thyroid, before they get too bad and can't be treated. I, myself, work in a normal job and don't spend money on a "whim". I did feal that the cost of this test was small compared to waiting if there was a problems. I mentioned it to the list, because the research I found was that over 30% of Cavaliers have Thromocytopenia (most are asymptomatic to it and owners don't realize they have it). This is something to keep an eye on - I was not suggesting major testing, but if your vet has an arrangement with the lab like mine, the test is cheaper than doing just the Thyroid that people check regularly.
