Hi List-
I would like to respond to Cynthia's post and her request that breeders
address the issue. This post is not ment to be argumentative or sarcastic,
but a view from another side..."

Hi Kim, congratulations on a logical & practical post.

In NZ the only time a dog would have a blood test would be if it was ill.
We just simply do not have the facilities and the cost would be astronomical
to routinely blood test. Perhaps that's why I've never heard of this
condition in my 27 years of being involved in this breed.

I don't buy that over 30% of Cavaliers are affected by this problem if the
sample was so small and it was taken so long ago. Are people saying that
30% of Cavaliers are showing symptoms of this problem or passing it on to
their progeny who are showing symptoms is it causing illness or death in
this number of Cavaliers.

I think I will just sit here in New Zealand with my non-blood tested
Cavaliers who live long & happy lives without the stress of being over
diagnosed.
