Susan you go to the vet when the dog is in distress not when you are. Just take her out in the yard for a walk. If she is ready then she will go. If she is not she won't. If she does a lot of squatting the puppy is stuck in the birth canal just put on a glove and go for a feel. She is not in inertia unless she was in full labor and pushing and completely stops everything. Call your vet for some Calsorb Myra says it is great.
