Arthritis is a degenerative disease caused by damage to articulate cartilage
of joints. Therefore, I'd be willing to bet that the cause of much of that
arthritis is hip dysplasia itself--the HD is what is causing the damage to
the cartilage which leads to the arthritis. (Of course if you don't look,
you won't know!)

And yes I absolutely DO know of several people who have owned Cavaliers with
HD who are/were in severe pain. I personally know of at least 3 who had to
have surgery the pain was so intense. At least one or two have stated so on
this list and I KNOW others on this list have dogs right now with HD who are
in distress. I have seen it in posts on this list--I am wondering why
others missed it.

If you are going to compare the seriousness of RD to HD, something is very,
very wrong. There is simply NO comparison between the two.

I still wonder--why the obsession with RD while downplaying HD? Tell me
what horrible fate awaits my pet puppies who have not been checked.
