Hi, Laura,
Again, I'm not diminishing the fact that HD could cause pain to
specific dogs. I'm *also* not advocating breeding without checking
hips. However, I am speculating on the population of Cavaliers who are
painful specifically due to HD. You knew of three (I assumed diagnosed
by xray)....in how many years of breeding? And, yes, I've heard of a
few.....mostly puppymill pups who may have had terribly severe cases.
However, I hear more about Cavaliers effected with fly catcher's
disease, that neurological neck disorder beginning with "s" that I
cannot spell or pronounce, and other such problems. In the number of
years I have been on this list, I don't think I've seen many discussions
about surgery for hip displasia or even mention of effected Cavaliers.
What I am wondering is if in doing prelims you are spending a fortune to
prevent a very small population from misery or whether I am missing a
larger population that is not identified here?
Best,
Suze
