Suze, I am saying that a breeder can rapidly improve the hips of their dogs
by using hip x-rays and removing the defective dogs from their breeding
program. I use prelims because I want to know when a dog is 1 year old
instead of when it is 2 years old. This makes a difference in my decisions
and plans for the future of that dog. In other words, I don't want to plan
my breeding program around a dog that will be neutered/spayed. It is easier
for me to place a dog that I have had a year, than to place one that I have
had for two years.

I don't advocate testing young puppies as this is not practical. I do
prelims at one year of age.

All the best,
Susan Cochran
