Hello All,
It has been asked out here how other Value Added Networks protect themselves from extended outages. Honestly, it seems that these questions should be asked when a customer proposes to engage a VAN for services not after their fourth major outage within a two year period. How GXS has answered the question in the past or future would be interesting to know? Speaking frankly, one of the primary reasons for using a VAN is reliability and availability. As such, it has come time for most of you to consider another service. Instead of approaching it as many of you have in the past by pitting one VAN against the other to squeeze out a penny in savings, why dont you start demanding value and service. There are too many economical VANs that pride themselves on higher technical capability, reliability and superior customer service for anybody to be forced into one of the big three networks. One example is the company I work for, EC/EDI Ltd. Our fully-interconnected VAN has never had an operational issue in over 10 years. Our customers call directly into EDI Project leaders like myself that can answer questions immediately without 17 layers of help desk red-tape. The web-interface we offer blows the doors off of our competition and the rates are extremely competitive. Look, I am not trying to sell you all on the company I work for in a time of trouble. I just want to convey that having been an EDI person in the fortune 500 corporate world and now having been here for over 5 years, I am convinced most of you, as was I, are deluded into thinking the bigger company is better. They are not and you have your proof just by reading the threads out here. Whether, you decide to call us or someone else it really does not matter to me as I do not make any more money. I just ask that after you dust yourselves off you should find another provider and focus more on reliability and references. Reliability is earned not awarded based on size or name recognition. Technology does have its ups and downs, but why not notify your customers when you go down????? I have used the Sterling Commerce VAN for over 10 years and they are good at letting you know when they are doing updates, when they are refreshing or having to shut down for patches at nite. Then they even send out emails to let you know when it is back up. We have not had services go down during production hours ever that I can remember. They "take care of their customers." We send out PO's to our VAN they go to GXS to our vendor and ..... ??????? We had 17 orders that ?????? did they get them? Why can't GXS inform their customers when they go down???? Just a simple request .... oh and they want to get paid for their inability to keep their system running??? ____________-_________-_________-__ From: HYPERLINK "mailto:EDI-L%40yahoogroups.com"[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:EDI--L%40yahoogroups.-com> <mailto:EDI--L%40yahoogroups.-com> <mailto:EDI--L%40yahoogroups.-com> [mailto:HYPERLINK "mailto:EDI-L%40yahoogroups.com"[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:EDI--L%40yahoogroups.-com> <mailto:EDI--L%40yahoogroups.-com> <mailto:EDI--L%40yahoogroups.-com> ] On Behalf Of Thomas Seay Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2007 1:39 PM To: HYPERLINK "mailto:edi-l%40yahoogroups.com"[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:edi--l%40yahoogroups.-com> <mailto:edi--l%40yahoogroups.-com> <mailto:edi--l%40yahoogroups.-com> Subject: Re: [EDI-L] GXS DOWN????? Pollice Basso! Another GXS Banner Day!!! I know some of you just find yourself stuck with GXS, but when are people going to do themselves a favor and DUMP this loser? Tired of these outages? Tired of the so-called customer service? Tired of that joke self-service web interface? Tired of the "characters" they attach to your file that screws with your (or your tps) ftp? How about the redundancy they supposedly have in (I believe they- the salespeople--say) three different data centers? Yeah, GXS down and here is what I say: Pollice basso, please throw them to the lions! -Thomas ____________-_________-_________-_________-_________-_________-_ Now that's room service!
