Agreed. Demand REFERENCES and actually call them.

One must get opininion from people who have used the VAN...preferably independent contractors or programmers. Managers are not going to be reliable, mainly because their position makes them more susceptible to "cognitive dissonance..-..the phenomenon that when a belief is shown to be wrong or lacking, the believer will often not cede to the proof but increase his/her blind faith in the creed. As I recall it (and I might be partly in error) when GXS is queried during sales period about their disaster recovery they say that they have three hubs in different geographic zones and that the data is close to instantly replicated across all 3 hubs and that there is little chance that all three would go down at the same time. NOW THAT SOUNDS GOOD but, hey, it's now obvious that it doesn't work. A Van like Sterling MIGHT have similar difficulties.-..but you know what....they haven't had these kind of outages to my recollection. The BEST is that you never have a chance to see if what they SAY matches REALITY. -Thomas Seay ____________-_________-_________-_________-_________-_________-_ Never miss an email again! Yahoo!
