Yes, in 10.0, it was a preference to see drive icons on the desktop. And prior to 10.0 (ie: public betas or developer releases), there was no preference, you just couldn't do it. But, because people complained to apple (yes, this does work for most things), Apple made it an option in 10.0 to have them appear, and made that option on by default in 10.1. I'm sure you can still turn it off as of Jaguar, but I'm not sure many people do. This brings me to my previous thought... that MacOrphan's is running a VERY old version of OS X. Possibly a public beta version. That would certainly explain many of the potential problems... I asked what version he/she (she right?) was using in a previous email... but that went ignored. Ok, I'll go back to fixing problems at work. At least here I get paid to deal with people that don't fill in the blanks, and expect me to fix things with the magic blink of my eyes. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
