What application did you expect would open the Desktop *folder*? You have
an habit of opening folders? Folder content, maybe, but folders? Folders
don't have Application associations as far as I know. Your explaining
certainly do leave a lot to be desired. Until, you become comprehensible,
it's not much we can do I'm afraid.

Well, I can safely say that I never ever encountered this problem on any
OS or browser personally, but I think it's likely, that your *browser*
that you, in your "I'll-keep-the-details-to-myself" attitude refuse to
reveal to us even when asked specifically about it, *the browser*, that
is not your pet peeve OS X, isn't set up to handle "file://" or whatever
it is called in your specific web browser application.

This setting can be changed usually, in the preferences of the *Browser*.
You know, "in the prefs"? I'm sure most graphical applications have
preferences, also in OS 9, so it wouldn't be too hard for you to look
around there, would it? In OS X preferences can usually be found under
the application name menu, that is just right to the menu that poses
itself as the Apple menu in OS X.

Let me also say, that if you continue not giving the information needed
to help you, be it OS X, OS 9 or Emailer, the chances are slim I'll give
a damn. I'm certain I'm not alone on that point.
