As for the desktop alias, I don't understand the objective or what is the problem. More details? Sounds like it's the desktop of another user though? That would explain the " not found" error. Why is Macorphans messing with multiple users in OS X?
As for the text problem in the browser, the info lacking is answers on the questions: What browser?
