I don't use LAB color sharpening (yet), because I don't have Photoshop or another image editing software supporting LAB colors. But I've found it helps a little to select a somewhat higher threshold value for unsharp masking in order to prevent noise from being sharpened. I have no experience with anything else than ISO 50 images, though.
